Did You Know?... Miami is the only United States city to be planned by a woman, Julia Tuttle. And it is the only city bordering two national parks: Everglades and Biscayne.

Beaches: South Beach (also known as SoBe, or "The Beach") is one of the more popular areas of Miami Beach. Topless sunbathing is tolerated on certain designated areas of the beach. Before the TV show Miami Vice helped make the area popular, SoBe was rundown, with vacant buildings and a high crime rate. Today, it is considered one of the richest commercial areas on the beach, yet poverty and crime still remain in some places near the area.".

Wildlife: At Gator Park you'll see all sorts of wildlife - such as alligators, turtles, snakes, fish and exotic birds -as you take a famous Airboat Ride deep into the Everglades National Park.

The Historical Museum: Dedicated to telling the story of South Florida and the Caribbean. To this end, it hosts a permanent gallery and a special gallery with several changing exhibitions each year.

Miami Seaquarium: A world-class marine-life entertainment park with eight different marine animal shows and presentations offered each day. It’s the only place where you’ll see the graceful beauty of four Pacific white sided dolphins combined with the awesome power of a three ton killer whale.

Fairchild Tropical Garden: The largest tropical botanical garden in the continental U.S. and features a rare plant house, rain forest and sunken gardens.

Little Havana: The hub of the Greater Miami’s vibrant Cuban community. Here, the chimneys and porch piers of single-family bungalows are made of native coral limestone.

Architecture: Coral Gable’s Venetian Pool is a luxurious swimming lagoon, adorned with Italian architecture, cascading waterfalls and arched stone bridges. Fashioned from an old rock quarry in 1924, the pool hosted poolside orchestras and countless Hollywood legends in its heyday. Today, couples can enjoy the historic watering hole, imagining the glamour of another era.

History: Once known as "Millionaires’ Row," Coconut Grove retains much of its elegant ambiance as home to some of Miami’s finest hotels, restaurants and designer shops.

The Dolphin Research Center: An enormous statue of a mother and baby dolphin out the front, so it is hard to miss! Founded over 30 years ago, the Dolphin Research Center offers half-day programs on dolphin biology and methods of communication, culminating with a opportunity to meet, touch and communicate with the center's dolphins. It is also possible to swim with the dolphins as part of the Dolphin Encounter Program, although reservations usually have to be made in advance.
